ACWW is Hiring for a Community Outreach Coordinator

The mission of the Asian Canadian Writers' Workshop (ACWW) is to foster a community of writers and literary enthusiasts.  Over the years, it has established a number of milestones, including writing workshops, literary anthologies, book clubs, mentorship of new writers, one-on-one manuscript development sessions, an annual reading series, chapters in Edmonton, Montreal, and Toronto, as well as the creation of the ACWW Emerging Writers Award.  In 2018, ACWW is hiring a part-time Community Outreach Coordinator to support its community outreach initiatives in keeping with the organization’s initiatives.


Community Outreach
  • Maintain and develop new community connections and networks to promote ACWW; expand ACWW’s community presence in Vancouver Lower Mainland
  • Work with other organizations and individuals to support collaborative opportunities in Vancouver Chinatown, including Sun Wah Centre
  • Create a safe, welcoming environment; help patrons access resources, supplies and tools in ACWW’s spaces and workshops
  • Assist and organize the development of ongoing program for community; welcome and support attendees and community; promote programs to other community groups and organizations
  • Collaborate with Ricepaper and LiterASIAN teams to plan and provide ACWW events both in Chinatown and in other community venues in the Lower Mainland
  • Communicate via phone and email with writers, volunteers, donors, businesses, community organizations, etc., in managing and responding to messages and inquiries.
  • Work collaboratively with other ACWW staff and board members while being responsible to the Executive Director
  • Prepare reports for board meetings and attend meetings at the request of the board

Hours: $15 per hour, 10 hours a week.  Application deadline: February 1, 2018
