October 28 - October 29
Test Kitchen Studio
739 Gore Avenue (and Union), 2nd floor
Vancouver, BC
Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29 at 7:30pm
David Yee's ground-breaking play, lady in the red dress, was shortlisted for a Governor General Literary Award shortly after its premiere in Toronto, but has never been seen on the West Coast. Creative Dominion invites audiences to witness a select number of scenes from the play, performed off-book for the first time in Vancouver. The workshop production reveals the play in a pared down format: intimate, raw, dark and compelling. Limited studio seating, please purchase in advance.
"Dragged by his hair into the history of the Chinese-Canadian struggle for redress and into the lives of those involved, Max discovers that not only is his life in danger, but also his son's. A modern-day noir, lady in the red dress is a darkly comic story about the skeletons in our closets and the consequences of our inactions told by one of Canada's most unorthodox young playwrights." (Playwrights Canada Press)
