Join the Chinatown Storytelling Centre and re:Naissance Opera for the launch of ‘168’ – a new youth-led magazine that spotlights diverse perspectives shaping the future of Vancouver’s Chinatown.
Marking 100 years since the passage of the Chinese Immigration Act, this unique publication explores the community’s creative aspirations for the century to come.
Spearheaded by Blake Abbie, an acclaimed Chinese-Scottish Canadian artist and editor based in Vancouver and New York Chinatowns, and in collaboration with a talented team of high school students from across the lower Mainland, '168' empowers youth-driven storytelling and community engagement.
The launch will feature live music, refreshments, and readings from the magazine’s “Letters to the Future” with Blake Abbie and Chinese Canadian author Madeleine Thien.
